ALUMNI WEEK: INTERDISCIPLINARY SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH AT UVA – THE LATEST INSIGHTS

During the UvA Alumni week (12-18 October), alumni from the University of Amsterdam can enjoy over 50 inspiring lectures, training sessions, and other activities. SustainaLab is excited to announce that we are hosting an event as part of this week.

Within the UvA, researchers from all faculties work together to conduct interdisciplinary research on more sustainable production and consumption and on the necessary system transition. In this respect, the UvA’s broad profile is a good match with many sustainability issues that require an interdisciplinary approach. The UvA has many of these disciplines in-house.

In this meeting, UvA researchers will present recent results of their research. Dr. Joeri Sol will talk about the economic value loss of species extinction and Ir. Nienke Leenders will share her findings on chemical clothing recycling.
As a sneak preview, special attention will be given to the interdisciplinary research on climate change, which will be officially launched in November. Last year, Rector Peter-Paul Verbeek announced an acceleration on this topic. Prof. André Nollkaemper has been developing this research agenda since January 2024 in his role as university professor of International Law and Sustainability.

Speakers:

  • Prof. mr. André Nollkaemper, university professor International Law and Sustainability
  • Dr. Joeri Sol, associate professor Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • Ir. Nienke Leenders, PhD student Industrial Sustainable Chemistry

Date: Thursday 17 October, 17.00 – 19.00 (drinks included)
